Start Times TBA
Required pre-tournament check-in will take place at the Cobo Convention Center from 3:00-9:00 PM on Friday, May 10th. All teams MUST be checked in before playing.
This is an AAU licensed event, which means we need AAU rosters from every team. You have two options on the roster format:
1. AAU roster directly from the AAU website. For step by step instructions on how to complete this please click here. Please read carefully!
2. AES roster with AAU information imported. For step by step instructions on how to complete this please click here. When the import is completed correctly, you should see all Ys in the AAU ver. column on the printable roster.
All players and coaches must be AAU members in order to participate in this event in any way. If a person plans on being on the bench at any time, they must be an AAU member. Remember to include your club code on your AAU membership! This is a requirement to be able to import the AAU information into AES.
How to submit your roster:
Email all AAU rosters directly to Lindsey at firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to save all rosters as their own pdf file. Each team should have it's own pdf saved exactly the same way as the name appears in AES. If you would like me to pull your imported rosters from AES, just let me know when they are completed and I would be happy to do so.
Roster deadline is Monday, May 6th at 5pm! The earlier you get your rosters done, the easier it is to fix any issues that may arise.
This year's Can-Am Classic will be using Advanced Event Systems for its registration process. AES will be the website that is the choice of USA JNC Girls Championship, National Qualifiers, Regional’s, and many other events throughout the country.
The Capitol Sports Center staff will send out broadcast emails to inform you of other information and steps as they come available.
Entry fees must be received with completed entry form to be accepted into the tournament by 4/26/2019. All participants must have a current AAU membership. Rosters need to be submitted online by the roster deadline 5/6/2019.
The Can-Am Classic is happy to announce its implementation of the Stay to Play and Save policy. Although, this policy has been highly controversial in the volleyball community, it has become necessary to help combat hotels driving prices higher and higher. Over the years, we have had anywhere between 80 and 90 percent of our participants using rooms from the AES list. Unfortunately, as our tournament has grown, rates for downtown hotels have risen to as high as $184 a night. The best defense we have against these high prices, is to go to the Stay to Play and Save Policy.
In order to participate in the Can-Am Classic, each out-of-town team must get rooms from the AES Approved hotel block, unless that team is located within 60 miles of the Cobo Center. There are two easy ways to do this:
Teams can make room blocks or make individual reservations, it is up to what each club’s preference is and what is the easiest process for those groups. We are here to help and to make this process as easy as possible.
