Melany started playing volleyball at the age of five, and developed her love for the game over the last 18 years.
She experienced success in many years of dedication to this sport.
In her role as a player in high school and in club (yes, she admits she’s a product of Munciana), she’s earned All-State, All-Conference, All-tournament, All-American, and National Champion honors.
Her success early on provided her the opportunity to play at the collegiate level.
She sought out her collegiate experience at Michigan State University (2005-2007) and Indiana University Bloomington (2008-2009).
Playing in the Big 10 division was no doubt an awesome experience.
In her collegiate years she earned Academic Big Ten honors and made an NCAA tournament appearance in 2006-2007 season.
Having over 18 years of experience under her belt, She is living proof that this game can change your life.
The game of volleyball and the opportunities that can be unveiled through hard work and perseverance are endless.
In her role as a coach now, her main goal is to develop the passion and the skill set for others to be successful in this sport.
After being under the direction of several different coaches, each having their unique philosophy, she has formulated a philosophy of her own that is in parallel with her beliefs.
As a ‘veteran’ of the game, if you will, She feel’s it is her duty to encourage young athletes to mentally and physically push their limits to reach their potential, not only as volleyball players but individuals off the court.
She believes that success stems from a positive attitude, self-motivation, teamwork, consistency, and perseverance.
An athlete with these types of qualities is not only ahead of the game in volleyball but in the game of life.
She is devoting her time and energy to help develop these ladies, and in return she expects them to take advantage of the learning opportunities by maximizing their efforts.
A player who plays for her will grasp the mentality that volleyball isn’t a hobby, it’s a lifestyle.
