INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Indianapolis’ Casey Chrzastowski (Bloomington, Ind.) is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. Chrzastowski, a senior for the Greyhounds, helped UIndy extend their school-record winning streak to 12 matches with three wins last week.

Chrzastowski, for the week, averaged 4.6 kills, 1.4 digs and 0.60 blocks per game while hitting at a .327 clip. Behind her strong play, UIndy defeated Indiana Tech, 3-0, Bellarmine, 3-0 and 22nd-ranked Northern Kentucky, 3-1. The Greyhounds held their opponents to 20 of fewer points in seven of the 10 games. Mullikin Sets Wake Forest Career Block Solos Record

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Natalie Mullikin established a new Wake Forest career block solos record in the Demon Deacons' five-game loss at Boston College Sunday afternoon at Power Gymnasium.

Mullikin came into the weekend tied with Jenny Kraner (1984-86) for the school record with 87 career block solos. Mullikin went without a block on Friday at Maryland but came through with one on Sunday against the Eagles. She got the record on the second play of game three, stuffing BC's Abigail Hasebroock for the record.

Holstein Named Recipient of
B. Frank Turner Award

Harrogate, Tennessee


Lincoln Memorial University volleyball senior Allison Holstein was recently named the recipient of the B. Frank Turner Award at the University’s annual Athletics Banquet last Thursday night on the LMU campus.

Civically, Holstein has served as a volunteer at Harrogate’s Tri-state Nursing Home, and with area school children while occasionally singing the National Anthem at various LMU sporting events.

In addition to last week’s Turner Award, on May 6, 2006 Holstein will graduate with her degree in Kinesiology and will leave Lincoln Memorial University having set an example to be followed by generations of Railsplitters to come.

Each year the Turner Award is given to the top
male and female student-athletes at Lincoln Memorial University who best represent the University and what it stands for on the field of play, in the classroom and in the community.

Holstein, a senior majoring in Kinesiology has served as Team Captain for the past two seasons and helped lead the Lady Railsplitter volleyball team achieve a 20-15 overall record this year, while finishing second on the team in digs (3.01) and first in assists (1290). In addition, the four-year letterman ranks fourth all-time at LMU in assists (2,673), fourth in assists per game (7.38), seventh in career service aces (135) and seventh in career digs (954), while getting named once in 2004 as Gulf South Conference Player of the Week.

In the classroom Holstein has been equally as impressive throughout her four years at Lincoln Memorial University. The Brownsburg, Indiana native has been on the Gulf South Conference Honor Roll four consecutive years as well as the LMU Dean’s List with a 3.36 grade point average.

Ashly Miller Named Lady Topper Volleyball Assistant Coach


Bowling Green, Ky. —
Former Western Kentucky University volleyball standout Ashly Miller has been named the new assistant coach with the Lady Topper program. Miller replaces Natalie Sutimek, who left after five seasons as an assistant to become the head coach at Normal (Ill.) Community High School.

Miller, a member of four Sun Belt Conference East Division championship teams from 2001-04, will be responsible for scouting opponents, film exchange and team travel. She will also serve as assistant director of the WKU Volleyball Camp. Ream More >
